Monument Realty's Bases Are Loaded -- With Signs
The Washington Post
Giant signs that sprouted in recent days in front of forlorn, boarded-up buildings in the District's Southeast convey a can-do boosterism common to two groups of optimists -- real estate developers and baseball fans. "Grand slam," "Go Nationals" and "Play ball" are among the messages on the five golden-yellow signs that are up to 48 feet wide.
The signs, and the sites they're on, belong to Monument Realty LLC, a District-based developer that is planning major office, retail and residential properties surrounding the ballpark that's being built for the Nationals.
The company's announcement of the new signs provided ample evidence that baseball metaphors will flow in the development business like beer at an August doubleheader. Monument co-founder and principal Jeff Neal offered this: "The community is, in a way, our field of dreams."
